But with so many islands and beaches to choose from, it’s hard to know where to spend your vacation. For this reason, I’ve compiled this list of the 17 Best Beaches in Seychelles to help you plan your trip.

OVERVIEW – BEST BEACHES IN SEYCHELLES
WHAT ARE THE BEST MONTHS TO VISIT SEYCHELLES?
Seychelles offers tropical warm weather all year round, but the best months to visit are March and April or from June to November.
June, July, and August are the driest months in Seychelles, and on the other hand, the wettest months in Seychelles are December, January, and February.
All the other months are pretty appealing as well, however, during the winter months, there is a higher chance of stronger winds which can be a bit uncomfortable.
In addition, the most crowded months are January, February, and May. If your plan is to have some peaceful days away from busy atmospheres, try to avoid visiting during these months.
WHICH ISLAND HAS THE BEST BEACHES IN SEYCHELLES?
Seychelles archipelago is composed of 115 islands, however, only eight of them are inhabited.
Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue are the three main ones and most populated as well, with 90% of the population living in Mahé.
Although every single island is unique in its own way, Mahé offers some of the best Seychelles beaches.
In fact, due to it being the biggest island, there is more variety of beaches to choose from, which is great for all types of travelers to spend a few days to a few weeks.
However, La Digue and Praslin boast magnificent beaches too, so you really need to visit all three islands to get a taste of them all.
WHERE IS THE BEST PART OF SEYCHELLES TO STAY?
The three main islands Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue are the best islands to stay and explore. It’s easy to travel to Praslin and La Digue from Mahé, making things very easy.
Mahé is perfect for families with young children. If you’re looking for the best part of Mahé to stay in during your travels, I would recommend Beau Vallon.
Praslin is known for being a honeymoon paradise. Due to its small size, it’s very easy to navigate around the island by car or even with a bike.
La Digue is the smallest of the three main islands of Seychelles but no less special and offers unforgettable beaches and marvelous accommodations.

HOW MANY DAYS TO STAY IN SEYCHELLES?
If you plan to explore all three main islands of Seychelles, Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue, then you need at least 12 to 14 days to make sure you’ll get to see everything.
However, if you only aim to spend your time in Mahé, the main island, then one week should be enough.
It also depends on if you’re traveling solo, with your partner, or with your family.
Traveling solo gives you more flexibility, so you’ll probably be able to do more in less time, whereas if you’re traveling with young children, then you’ll need more time to explore and experience some of Seychelles best beaches.

ARE ALL BEACHES IN SEYCHELLES PUBLIC?
All beaches in Seychelles are public property by law. Even though some of the beaches are remote, these beautiful shorelines are begging to be explored.
This is also the case for beaches belonging to hotels and resorts and you theoretically don’t need to pay any fee to spend the day there.
IS IT SAFE TO SWIM IN SEYCHELLES?
The beaches in Seychelles are some of the nicest in the world, but you will need to be cautious of the sea conditions depending on which beaches you visit.
Some Seychelles beaches have severe surf, and swimmers should be aware of undertows, whereas some beaches have a fringing reef and the water is always calm and safe to swim.
It’s worth noting that some beaches are only safe to swim at during one season but harmful during another. And you should never swim alone or go swimming at a beach where you are not sure it’s safe to enter the water.
You’ll also want to consider wearing water shoes to protect your feet from rocks on some beaches because they’re quite rough.
To sum up, yes, it’s overall safe to swim at the beach in Seychelles.

ANSE SOURCE D’ARGENT, LA DIGUE
Anse Source D’Argent in La Digue is one of the best beaches in Seychelles without any doubt.
Known for its majestic granite formations, turquoise waters, and swaying palm trees, this beach is the real-life representation of all of those beautiful postcards you see of Seychelles.
Interesting fact: Anse Source D’Argent was voted the best beach in the world by The Guardian, and we can easily see why.
To access the beach, you’ll need to pay a fee of about $8 as it’s part of a national park, but it’s definitely worth it.
On Anse Source d’Argent, you’ll find a small bar serving drinks, smoothies, and coconuts. It’s also one of the best spots to go kayaking due to its calm and transparent waters.
Apart from exploring the stunning granite rocks, you can go snorkeling and swim around in the lagoons as well as sunbathing on the beach, which is a unique experience!

PETITE ANSE, MAHÉ
Petite Anse in Mahé is described by many as the “most beautiful beach of Mahé”.
This beach is perfect for families due to its calm waters and protection from the wind. You’re also able to spot fish swimming around and live corals which is a unique experience.
There are two ways to get to Petite Anse – the first one is through the Four Seasons Resort where you can enter via the hotel entrance and head straight down onto the shoreline.
At the beach, besides the crystalline water and white sand, you’ll also find sunbeds to rent, and watersports activities for hire, and if you fancy some food, you can have lunch or dinner at the Four Seasons Resort.
On the other hand, you can go to Petite Anse via Grand Anse, trekking on a short trail for about 15 minutes. If you happen to be arriving by bike, you’ll find parking at Grand Anse, and this is the best place to leave bicycles.
ANSE GEORGETTE, PRASLIN
Anse Georgette in Praslin is a small fine white sand beach that is surrounded by nature.
This beach is known for being one of the best beaches in Seychelles, and perhaps the best beach in Praslin. Anse Georgette was also rewarded the TripAdvisor’s Traveler’s Choice Award in 2021.
To access the beach, you need to go through the Constance Lemuria Hotel. Although being a public beach, most of the people who visit this beach are staying at the hotel, which means that it is generally not too crowded compared to the other Seychelles beaches.
If you stay at Constance Lemuria Hotel, getting to Anse Georgette is a breeze and you can also jump on the golf cart provided.
If you don’t stay here, however, you should book your visit in advance, as there are limited numbers of people who can come simultaneously. In this case, you’ll have to walk from the hotel to the beach and it’ll take about 20 minutes.
Once you get to Anse Georgette, you’re in for a treat with clear, blue water for bathing, snorkeling, and working on your tan.
Last but not least, while there are no cafes or stores, you can buy coconuts and fruit plates from vendors at the beach which is great if you’re planning to spend the day here.

ANSE MARRON, LA DIGUE
Anse Marron is the southernmost beach on La Digue boasting scenic granite formations which the island is known for.
The granite formations also create a saltwater natural pool which is perfect for swimming and for photographers who want to capture outstanding landscapes.
However, getting to Anse Marron Beach can be quite challenging, and difficult to find. My advice is that you book a guided tour with a local guide who will take you to the beach safely.
Due to its tricky access, Anse Marron is not recommended for families with young children or elderly people.
So, if you’re adventurous enough and you’re making a stop in La Digue, don’t forget to add this little paradise to your itinerary.
ANSE INTENDANCE, MAHÉ
With a shoreline of almost 700 meters, Anse Intendance located on the southwest side of Mahé, is one of the best beaches in Seychelles, especially for nature lovers.
While it is pretty far from Victoria, it’s a great excuse to drive along the coast and explore everything that Mahé has to offer.
Anse Intendance boasts crystal-clear waters making it a great spot for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling. There are also several restaurants and cafes located nearby to relax and enjoy a nice meal.

Situated on the largest island of Seychelles, Beau Vallon is known for being one of the best locations to enjoy unforgettable sunsets.
This long public beach is surrounded by different bars and restaurants, so there are plenty of options for everyone.
It’s the place to go if you’re looking for a splendid and calm water beach to go with kids. There are also plenty of activities like snorkeling, an outdoor gym, and music on the beach to chill with locals, which will keep everyone entertained!
Moreover, Beau Vallon is the perfect place in Mahé to swim as the waves aren’t too high and is safe for all ages.
ANSE LAZIO, PRASLIN
Anse Lazio is one of the most famous beaches of Praslin and one of the best Seychelles beaches overall.

GRAND ANSE, LA DIGUE

Getting to Grand Anse is relatively easy and I recommend renting and riding a bike to reach the shoreline.
This picturesque beach offers safe swimming conditions most of the year, however, there are some strong currents sometimes, so be sure to assess the sea conditions before visiting.
While Anse Source D’Argent is more impressive, Grand Anse is free to enjoy, and that’s certainly something to consider.

ANSE VOLBERT, PRASLIN
Anse Volbert is one of the most popular beaches in Praslin and one of the best Seychelles beaches without any doubt.
This wide beach is about half a mile in length of white sand and offers shallow and calm waters, perfect for everyone who enjoys swimming and other water activities.
Anse Volbert also offers plenty of shade provided by the magnificent palm trees you can find along the beach.

ANSE COCOS, LA DIGUE
Anse Cocos in La Digue is a little hidden paradise. Access to the beach can be a bit challenging, making it not accessible to everyone. Because of that, you’ll probably have most of the beach just to yourself.
Anse Cocos is also known for being one of the best beaches for travel photographers to explore, as its beauty and emptiness make it the perfect place to take some epic pictures.

Most of the people who visit Anse Banane stop at the snack bar to enjoy some tasty traditional food while having a fantastic view of the crystal-clear waters.
Anse Banane is a great beach for all couples, friends, and family due to its ease of access and wildness.
It’s one of the best beaches in La Digue if you’re just planning to go for a walk along the beach and enjoy some fresh air.
ANSE ST. SAUVEUR, PRASLIN

ANSE MAJOR, MAHÉ
A hidden gem on the northwest coast of Mahé, Anse Major is one of the best Seychelles beaches!
It can only be accessed on foot by hiking the Anse Major Trail or getting a taxi boat from Beau Vallon Beach. No roads lead to this secluded paradise, so you’ll have to park and hike in, which can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour.
The reward of the hike is the dramatic views of an impeccable coast from atop a granite cliff and a pristine beach awaits to take a refreshing dip after the hike.
As mentioned previously, you can get a taxi boat from Beau Vallon to reach the beach. I recommend Taxi Boat Happiness to take you to and from Anse Major Beach and other spots along the coastline.
However, if you’re adventurous enough to hike your way up, it will be a much more enjoyable experience, and cheaper, of course!
Head to the beach in the morning to avoid the hot sun, as there’s little shade offered on the trail. Also, be sure to pack plenty of water, snacks, and everything else you need for the beach, as there are no amenities here.

SURF HOUSE BEACH, MAHÉ
Surf House is a popular surfing school on Mahé Island that offers courses for all beginners, intermediate, and advanced surfers.
Surf House Beach, located right in front of the surf school, is one of the not-so-popular Seychelles beaches since most visitors are the surf school’s customers and guests coming from the Kempinski Resort.
However, having been to this stunning beach myself, I found it more than worth adding it to this list of Seychelles best beaches to visit!
Pebbles Cove Reef is located in this particular bay which is rated as one of the best places on the island to snorkel with lots of different underwater species.
So whether you’re keen to go surfing, snorkeling, swimming, or want to take a long stroll along the coast, Surf House Beach on Mahé has everything you need.
ANSE ROYALE, MAHÉ
Anse Royale, located on Mahé’s southeast coast, is one of the island’s most popular beaches. The beach is easily accessible owing to adjacent public parking and a bus station.
When coming from Victoria, a local bus will only take 30 to 45 minutes and will set you back SCR 7. Out of all the beaches on the island, Anse Royale is one of the most entertaining since it has several restaurants and activities nearby.
Anse Royale Beach is ideal for windsurfing, especially during the summer months when the trade winds blow between June and September.
The little town next to the beach is known as “Anse Royale,” and it has a variety of amenities, including a gas station, hospital, banks, the Seychelles University, and a variety of lodging options.
Some of these stores will even rent you fishing, snorkeling, or scuba diving equipment, so you can make the most of your time at the beach.
All things considered, Anse Royale is an iconic beach with granite boulders that are not to be missed.
SUNSET BEACH, MAHÉ
Last but not least on this list of best beaches in Seychelles is Sunset Beach, located on Mahé’s west coast near the island’s northern point.
The shallow, tranquil water is ideal for a variety of beach activities and is completely safe for children and inexperienced swimmers.
Needless to say, this makes Sunset Beach a terrific place for families, couples, and solo travelers looking to enjoy the stunning landscape, good swimming conditions, and of course an unforgettable sunset.
It’s worth noting that there is no parking lot near the beach but you’ll be able to park on the roadside and walk down the steps to reach the shoreline.
Sunset Beach is also one of the best places in the whole of Mahé Island for snorkeling since the water is shallow and the visibility is clear.

HOW TO GET FROM MAHÉ TO PRASLIN & LA DIGUE
Getting to Praslin Island and La Digue Island from Mahé is simple and I recommend traveling with Cat Cocos ferries which depart from Victoria Jetty on Mahé at 10.30 am and 4.30 pm every day.
GET YOUR TICKET: FERRY FROM MAHÉ TO PRASLIN
The ferry route from Mahe to Praslin is direct, however, if you’re traveling directly to La Digue first, you’ll have to make a stopover in Praslin Island, change ferries, and then continue the journey to La Digue.
The journey takes around 1 hour from Mahe to Praslin, and an additional 20 mintues from Praslin to La Digue depending on the sea conditions.
GET YOUR TICKET: FERRY FROM PRASLIN TO LA DIGUE
If traveling by high-speed ferry isn’t your cup of tea, then you’ll be glad to know that there are flights from Mahé to Praslin with a flight time of just 20 minutes.
The flight costs vary depending on the season, of course, and I recommend flying rather than taking the boat, especially in July and October when the sea is particularly rough.
Once landed on Praslin Island, you can spend a few days here first and then visit La Digue afterward. Do note that you’ll still have to jump on the ferry to La Digue from Praslin with the journey only taking 20 minutes which is very reasonable.

HOW TO GET AROUND ON THE ISLANDS
MAHÉ ISLAND
Renting a car is the most practical way to explore Mahé due to its large size. The cost of renting a car on Mahé ranges anywhere from $50 to $100 per day depending on the time of year, type of car, and the rental agency.
I always use Discover Cars to book online in advance as they generally offer the best rates.
The public bus is the most affordable way to get around Mahé but not the most practical option. The flat rate for a bus ticket is SCR 5 (about 0.40 cents), and they run every day from 5.30 am until 8.30 pm.
Taking taxis around the island is undoubtedly the most expensive option I do not recommend if you’re on a budget. For example, a 30-minute ride in a local taxi will cost you approximately the same amount as renting a car for a day.

LA DIGUE ISLAND
La Digue is a very laid-back and small island that is best explored by bicycle. You can bike from one end of the island to the other in under 2 hours.
You’ll find just a handful of cars on the island because most people – tourists and locals – get around by bicycle or on foot which is perfect for taking in the stunning surroundings at a slow pace.
There are several bike rental agencies in town where you can get yourself some wheels for around SCR 150 ($11) to SCR 200 ($15) per day, which is very affordable.

PRASLIN ISLAND
The island of Praslin is easy to navigate by rental car or by taxi. As the island is much bigger than La Digue, exploring by bicycle is not recommended.
There are two main roads on Praslin which are the main routes on the island making it easy to get around all the beaches and towns.
