MAHE TO LA DIGUE FLIGHT & FERRY
Apart from taking the ferry with Cat Cocos from Mahe, the other option is to take a flight from Mahe to Praslin and then the ferry from Praslin to La Digue.
From Seychelles’ National Airport in Mahe, there are multiple direct flights to Praslin which take a short twenty minutes.
Once you’re at Praslin Island Airport, you can opt to take the bus or a taxi to get to the ferry terminal. Due to its small size, it is easy to get around the island.
However, public buses only allow small luggage, so if you’re traveling heavy, you should probably opt for a taxi which will take around twenty-five minutes to get you to the Praslin ferry terminal.
The ferry from Praslin to La Digue costs $17.50 for an adult (+12 years old), and $11 for a children’s ticket (2-12 years old) in Standard Economy Class. Children younger than 2 years are free of charge.
The journey between Praslin and La Digue by ferry takes only 20 minutes, however, you should arrive at the ferry terminal 45 minutes before departure time.
If you decide to fly from Mahe to Praslin and take the ferry from Praslin to La Digue, you can finish the whole journey in 1.5 to 2 hours, which is pretty good!
All in all, flights from Mahe to La Digue are another comfortable option, yet not the cheapest.
PRIVATE BOAT TRANSFER
The last option to get to La Digue from Mahé is the most exclusive and luxurious, and that is booking a private boat.
This gives a few benefits such as a shorter duration (50 to 80 minutes), you can skip the queues at the Victoria ferry dock, have some drinks on the way, and be with your friends and family only on the boat.
The point of departure will be on Eden Island in Victoria and the cost is generally above $1,000 per group.
IS IT WORTH TAKING A PRIVATE BOAT TO REACH LA DIGUE FROM MAHE?
That is no straight answer because it all depends on your needs, your budget, and if you’re traveling alone, with friends, or with all your family.
When traveling alone, then it’s not worth it, unless you have $1,000 to spare.
That being said if you’re traveling with a big group of friends, or with your large family then it can be an excellent option to reach La Digue from Mahe.
