Papafragas Beach is one of the best beaches in Milos and a must-see on your next visit to this beautiful island in Greece.
Papafragas Milos features an idyllic, rectangular-shaped cove surrounded by tall cliffs and natural caves, all of which make it a very unique location and unlike any other beach that I’ve ever seen!

WHERE IS PAPAFRAGAS BEACH
Papafragas Beach is located on Milos’s northern coastline, a short 5-minute drive from Pollonia or a 15-minute drive from Adamas.

HOW TO GET TO PAPAFRAGAS MILOS
The best way to get here is to rent a scooter, ATV, or a car for the day and make your way over to Papafragas.
There are a number of places to organize a scooter, ATV, and car rental in Milos which can all be found within walking distance as soon as you step off the ferry in the main harbor-side town of Adamantas.
Scooter rental Milos:
I personally rented my scooter from Nicki Motors and found them to be the most affordable and reliable. From €25 per day, Nicki Motors offers scooter rentals and ATV rentals, but not car rentals. Click Here to check availability and prices.
Car rental Milos:
If you would prefer to rent a car in Milos, it’s best to book online in advance to secure a set of wheels for when you arrive. There are many small cars and SUVs available to rent that will get you around the island safely. Click Here to check availability and prices.
Note: An international driver’s license is mandatory for renting scooters and cars on Milos island, so make sure to have this ready to present along with your passport or ID.

BEST TIME TO VISIT PAPAFRAGAS BEACH
If you visit early in the morning for sunrise, especially during the peak summer season, you’ll most likely have the entire beach to yourself.
From 9:00 am onwards, crowds of tourists start to roll down to Papafragas Milos to score a spot on the small stretch of sand down on the beach. It’s a matter of first in best dressed.

ARRIVING AT PAPAFRAGAS BEACH MILOS ISLAND
When you arrive, you’ll find an allocated car parking area at the top of the cliffs.
Parking is free and there is access to the beach via a set of precarious-looking stairs cut into the cliffside.
There is a sign at the top stating “dangerous cliffs keep away” but this doesn’t stop people from making their way down the narrow pathway to the shoreline at Papafragas.
In saying that, know your limits and enter at your own risk.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT PAPAFRAGAS BEACH MILOS
Depending on the weather in Milos at the time, Papafragas Beach can either be a dream location looking exactly like it does on the postcards or it can be gloomy and not as inviting as you thought it might be.
Nevertheless, it’s well worth stopping in during your lap around Milos Island.
You can walk around the rocky headland to take pictures of the beach from above, or carefully walk down the stairs that are cut into the cliffside and make your way down to the sandy shoreline and crystalline water.
The beach itself lies inside a chiseled cave-like channel. You can wade in the shallow waters close to the shoreline or swim out through a natural arch and around the headland to discover more sea caves and secluded coves.

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
It’s recommended to assess the conditions of the ocean before heading down the cliffside stairs to the beach. If it’s really windy and wavy, you don’t want to risk getting washed around down in the caves.
If the conditions are questionable, be ocean smart and enjoy the views of Papafragas Milos from the top of the cliffs.

WHERE TO STAY IN MILOS
Milos Island has hundreds of accommodation options to choose from, so I have narrowed it down to a few of the best places to stay in Milos to fit the needs of budget backpackers, luxury travelers, and everyone in between.
See the list of accommodations below that I personally recommend:
Luxury: The Windmill
Centrally located in Adamas, The Windmill is one of the most unique accommodations in Milos. Set inside a refurbished stone windmill, this apartment features a balcony with ocean views, free wifi, air-conditioning, a private bathroom, a living room, equipped kitchen, and a spacious bedroom. This apartment is popular among tourists so be sure to book online ahead of time. The perfect place to stay for couples wanting a romantic getaway.
Mid Range: Livanios Studios
I personally stayed at Livanios Studios and rate this accommodation 10/10. Located 100m from the center of Adamas, there are nine apartments and loft-style rooms to choose from. Most offer balconies and rooftop terraces with ocean views and beautiful garden surround. The rooms have free wifi, spacious rooms, air-conditioning, flat-screen tv, private bathroom, and kitchenette. John, the owner, is the most caring Greek man that will go out of his way to make all of his guests feel welcome. Perfect place to stay for families, friends, and couples.
Budget: Milos Camping
The best budget accommodation on Milos Island. Achivadolimni Camping offers tents and bungalows to rent on their property, located 150m away from Achivadolimni Beach. There is a swimming pool, restaurant, bar, and mini-market on site for guests to use and free wifi is available. The best place to stay in Milos for solo travelers on a budget.
