Midigama is Weligama’s baby brother. A small surf town on the southern tip of Sri Lanka that can be easily missed but definitely NOT to be missed.
See away a couple of days drinking coconuts, surfing, and relaxing on the beach during your visit to this epic little coastal town.
I personally spent two days in Midigama and have put together this complete travel guide to help you plan your trip ahead of time.

WHERE IS MIDIGAMA?
Midigama is 150km south of Colombo which takes around 2 to 3 hours by car, train, or bus.
From Weligama, it’s a 4km drive which is just a short 5-minute drive.

WHERE TO STAY IN MIDIGAMA
There is no shortage of accommodations in this cute little beach town but I can personally recommend two great places to stay which I have listed below.
Surf Paradise & Cabana
A stone’s throw away from the beach with incredible ocean views. There is an in-house restaurant, free wi-fi, excellent rooms, and friendly staff for only 3,000 Rupees per night.
Gem Villa
A cozy, family-owned house with two private rooms available. There are no ocean views but it’s a short 2-minute walk to Midigama Beach for only 1,000 Rupees per night.

HOW TO GET AROUND
Midigama Sri Lanka is so small that you can walk from one end of the town to the other in 10 minutes.
If you are wanting to head to neighboring towns Ahangama or Weligama for a supermarket or ATM, it’s best to hail down a tuk-tuk that will cost you around 200 Rupees. Alternatively, you can walk and it will take you around 30-minutes to 1-hour.
There is no ATM machine in the town so make sure you have enough cash with you for the duration of your visit.
