Tuasan Falls In Camiguin Island, Philippines: 2024 Guide

//

Tuasan Falls is arguably the best waterfall on Camiguin Island!

It’s not quite as popular as Katibawasan Falls but it’s without a doubt an adventure not to be missed during your visit to the island.

I have put together this adventure guide to Tuasan Falls Camiguin including how to get there, how much it costs, and what to expect when you arrive.

WHERE IS TUASAN FALLS?

Tuasan Waterfall is located along the Looc River in Catarman on Camiguin Island.

Click here to see the location on Google maps.

From the main tourist area of Mambajao, it’s approximately a 30-minute drive to reach these falls.

HOW TO GET TO TUASAN FALLS CAMIGUIN

The best way to get here is to rent a scooter in Mambajao and make your own way to this amazing waterfall in Catarman.

I rented my scooter from Camiguin All In One for 350 pesos per day with a full tank of gas. They have many scooters to choose from and they can also help you to organize round-the-island tours in Camiguin.

Alternatively, there are tricycles and jeepney options available to get around Camiguin Island.

A 30-minute tricycle ride from Mambajao to Catarman will cost around 200 pesos whereas the jeepney is only 40-50 pesos.

ARRIVING AT TUASAN WATERFALL

The drive to Catarman is an adventure in itself. A newly constructed road leads through small villages and lush jungle surrounds, providing easy access to the falls.

At the entrance, you’ll find a parking lot, some sari-sari stores selling snacks and drinks, and a small ticketing office.

Once you have paid the 50 pesos entrance fee, it’s a short 1-minute walk around the bend to reach the waterfall.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT TUASAN FALLS

A 20-meter-high waterfall and the freshwater stream is the first thing you’ll see as you walk around the bend from the jump-off point. Not to mention the stream is incredibly clear with a tinge of turquoise colors!

There are two rock pools at the falls, the first pool is filled by the strong flow of water from the falls which then cascades down into the second pool.

The rock pools seem to have been excavated along the edges making them wider to accommodate visitors.

Although the swimming holes have been somewhat man-made, the locals have done well to preserve their natural beauty.

Marveling at the falls

On the left-hand side of the cascading rock pools is a lifeguard tower and a Filipino lifesaver ready to save the day if something goes wrong. Rest assured, there are no strong currents and the water is only shoulder-deep, and I am sure you won’t have any issues while swimming at the falls.

Be sure to bring your Quick-Dry Travel Towel to dry off after a swim.

My favorite features of Tuasan Waterfall are the vivid flora and fauna that surrounds the area, adding to the tranquil vibe and peacefulness of this place!
