Shimizu Island is home to some of the best beaches in El Nido and is not to be missed on your next trip to Palawan in the Philippines!
Shimizu Island El Nido stands dominantly among the archipelago of islands in the north of Palawan, boasting secluded coves, epic limestone cliffs, and a colorful reef with an abundance of marine life!
I have put together this complete guide including how to get there and what to expect when you arrive.
SHIMIZU ISLAND – OVERVIEW
Let’s start this guide with all the essentials you should know about Shimizu Island, such as the location, how to get there, and more.
WHERE IS SHIMIZU ISLAND?
Shimizu Island is a hidden gem situated in El Nido Bay, Philippines, located about 12km from El Nido.
HOW TO GET TO SHIMIZU ISLAND PALAWAN?
Shimizu Island can only be accessed by boat on one of the El Nido Island Hopping Tours.
More specifically, El Nido Tour A is the only boat tour that operates trips to Shimizu Island Palawan.
I personally booked Tour A El Nido online in advance with Viator and it couldn’t have been easier!
El Nido Tour A is the most top-rated El Nido Island Hopping Tour with great reviews.
Tour A El Nido includes a full day of island hopping on an outrigger boat to Seven Commandos Beach, Big Lagoon/Small Lagoon, Secret Lagoon El Nido, Shimizu, and a BBQ lunch on the boat.
BEST EL NIDO TOUR PACKAGE
The BEST Island Hopping trip you can get is the El Nido Tour A!
It includes hotel pickup, lunch, entrance to the lagoon, the environmental fee, and a fun guide to spend the day with!
IS SHIMIZU ISLAND WORTH VISITING?
Absolutely! Shimizu Island is definitely worth visiting. Nestled in the stunning Bacuit Bay of El Nido, Philippines, this small island is a true paradise for nature and adventure lovers.
Like I mentioned before, the best way to visit is to join the El Nido Tour A, and you’ll want to book it as soon as possible as it’s the most popular tour in town!
ARE THERE RESTAURANTS ON SHIMIZU ISLAND?
While there aren’t any restaurants on the island itself, that doesn’t mean you’ll go hungry. In fact, small boats often come by, offering a selection of snacks, drinks, and even coconuts.
Also, lunch is typically included in the Tour A El Nido package, and they normally provide a lot of food, so you definitely won’t go hungry.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON SHIMIZU EL NIDO
Shimizu Island is right around the corner from Secret Lagoon which is typically the fourth and final stop on El Nido Tour A.
Natural beauty is one way to describe the incredible landscapes and tropical vibes that you will experience on this island!
When our boat arrived on the outer edge of the reef we noticed we were one of just three other boats.
Ultimately, it was far less crowded than some of the other spots we had visited on the El Nido Island hopping tour.
We grabbed our snorkel gear and filled a dry bag with phones, towels, and camera gear to swim to the beach. We jumped off the side of the boat and headed straight to the sandy shores.

EXPLORING SHIMIZU ISLAND EL NIDO
There’s quite a bit of exploring to be had on the island to its number of secluded stretches of sand, small caves, and snorkeling around the colorful coral reefs.
The turquoise waters surrounding the island are more vibrant than the other islands we visited that day and it seriously looked good enough to drink!
The sun was already starting to set which cast some pretty cool shadows of the cliffs on the top of the ocean.
Salty, sun-kissed and exhausted is what we were all feeling by the time we left the island and we made the 1-hour journey back to El Nido Bay.
