REMOTE 9 – OVERVIEW

Let’s start this review by going through who Remote 9 is, what their mission is, and the other trips they offer.

WHAT IS REMOTE 9?

Remote 9 is a company that organizes co-working road trips for digital nomads to live an adventurous life and belong to an elevating community for a few weeks.

With Remote 9, you can make the most of remote work freedom and join a global network of like-minded individuals.

Working remotely is cool, but you don’t always get to make friends or meet people on the road.

And this is exactly what Remote 9 is all about – connections, fun, and coworking, all at the same time.

IS IT WORTH TAKING A REMOTE 9 TRIP?

Definitely! Iceland is an incredible destination for a remote trip, and as a digital nomad, there’s no better way to travel than with them.

I spent 3 weeks around Iceland with Andreas and Giulia, the owners, as well as other remote workers, and I had the time of my life!

If you’re looking for an unforgettable remote trip experience, then going to Iceland with Remote 9 should definitely be at the top of your list.

WHAT OTHER DESTINATIONS CAN YOU BOOK?

Remote 9 currently has three more trips for this year such as Croatia in September 2023, Iceland in October 2023, and Japan in 2024.

I personally traveled to each of these places myself and, let me tell you, they’re great spots to work and travel.

WHAT DO CO-WORKING TRIPS WITH REMOTE 9 INCLUDE?

At Remote 9, they understand the importance of connection and collaboration for remote workers.

That’s why the co-working trips include a variety of connection workshops to help you build meaningful relationships with the other participants.

  • WiFi – Everywhere, even on the road
  • All accommodation – Private villas with co-working and co-living space
  • Transportation – Private minivan
  • Meals – Cook delicious meals with other participants (meals out excluded)
  • Workshops – Masterminds, skillshares, and more (more on this below)

There wasn’t one thing that was missing during the Remote 9 Iceland trip.

EAST ICELAND – 2 DAYS

These two days in the eastern part of Iceland are all about tranquility and serenity as you traverse the lesser explored, and you’ll be able to co-work with the other participants here too.

Apart from co-working, there is plenty of time to venture off the beaten path to discover breathtaking fjords, stunning glaciers, and charming coastal villages.

Next on the Remote 9 Iceland itinerary is four days in North Iceland where cascading waterfalls and geothermal hot springs meet.

Here are the places we’ve visited on the way:

  • Dettifoss Waterfall
  • Godafoss Waterfall
  • Studlagil Canyon
  • Hverfjall crater

What I liked about this part of Iceland, apart from the incredible and spacious villa, was relaxing in the hot tub and walking around the forest. We had such an incredible time here!

The last part of the Iceland itinerary is in the western part where rugged coastlines, majestic fjords, and ancient lava formations combine.

Among the spots we visited, the highlights were:

  • Djúpalónssandur black sand beach

These created a captivating backdrop for three unforgettable days of work and discovery, offering endless inspiration for digital nomads.

THE ACCOMMODATIONS

Planning a co-working trip can be both exciting and challenging, especially when it comes to finding accommodation that meets your needs.

Fortunately, Remote 9 knows it too well and offers a unique and innovative solution that combines work and leisure seamlessly – private villas with co-working and co-living spaces.

The private villas where we stayed were carefully chosen to provide the perfect work-life balance, allowing you to stay focused and productive while enjoying the trip.

Each villa is equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, comfortable workstations, and all the amenities you need to live comfortably.

The private villas have a co-living space where you can connect and network with other like-minded individuals outside of the workshops.

And if you work better individually, that’s not a problem. Everyone respected each other’s space when it was needed.

Whether you’re a freelancer, entrepreneur, or remote worker, the private villas provide the perfect balance of work and play.

ACTIVITIES ON THE REMOTE 9 ICELAND ROAD TRIP

Apart from all the fun times we had co-working during the trip, my favorite activities were by far the following:

Of course, work commitments are important, and you’ll get plenty of time to work while traveling to all these spots – what else could you ask for?!

Plus, visiting all these spots by yourself without Remote 9 would have been a challenge, but everything went very smoothly for all participants.

SKILLSHARES & MASTERMINDS

One activity where Remote 9 excels is the Skillshare and Mastermind workshops, and saying that they do it well would be an understatement.

The masterminds workshop is all about presenting a problem and coming up with a solution together as a group.

Skillshare sessions allow individuals to share their expertise, while mastermind sessions encourage collaborative problem-solving.

Participants can elevate their skills, learn something new, and receive feedback in a supportive and open-minded environment.

Previous skillshare topics have covered a diverse range of subjects, including SEO, managing a remote team, social media marketing, and many more.

Simply put, these sessions allow you not only to share your knowledge with other participants but also to learn from them.

HOW TO APPLY FOR REMOTE 9 CO-WORKING TRIPS?

In order to apply for a Remote 9 co-working trip, you’ll have to apply on their website and select the trip you’re interested in.

While this isn’t a “Book-and-go” way of booking, it allows the owners to select like-minded people to make the best tour and group, just like they did for the Remote 9 Iceland trip that I joined.

For instance, if you just started working remotely, it’d be awkward to be part of a group of people that don’t work online, and vice versa, and that’s exactly what makes these trips so special.
