//

If you’ve tried looking up pink beaches in Indonesia, you’ve undoubtedly come across the famous Pink Beach Komodo Island!

The contrast between the pink sand, turquoise blue water, and green hills is a rare find with only a very small number of pink beaches on the planet.

Perfect for divers, snorkel lovers, and beach enthusiasts, Pink Beach Komodo Island is a must-see if you’re looking to go off the beaten track and explore the Eastern side of Indonesia.

I have put together this complete guide to visiting Komodo Island Pink Beach including how to get here, how much it costs, and what to expect when you arrive.

QUICK ANSWERS: PINK BEACH KOMODO?

Before I dive into more details about Komodo Pink Beach, here are some quick answers to the most frequently asked questions by first-time visitors.

WHERE IS PINK BEACH KOMODO?

This particular Pink Beach in Indonesia is located on Komodo Island which is part of the Komodo National Park.

The island is in East Indonesia with the closest main town being Labuan Bajo in Flores.

HOW TO GET TO PINK BEACH KOMODO?

Because Komodo Island Pink Beach is located on an island, the only way to get here is by boat from Labuan Bajo.

First, you need to get to the main town of Labuan Bajo in Flores. There are multiple flights from all the bigger airports around Indonesia including Bali, Lombok, Jakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, and Kupang airports.

Once you’ve touched down safely in Labuan Bajo, you’re going to need a boat to get out to the islands, and the trip from Labuan to Komodo takes approximately 2-3 hours.

CAN I DO A DAY TRIP FROM LABUAN BAJO?

Yes, absolutely. If your time is limited, you can simply book a day trip to Komodo Island from Labuan Bajo.

Depending on your preferences and budget, you can opt for a group tour or a private boat tour.

There is one tour that I can highly recommend that covers all the highlights on a full-day trip from Labuan Bajo.

The Komodo Full-Day Boat Tour is the most top-rated tour with great reviews and hundreds of bookings.

This tour covers the top locations in Komodo National Park such as the famous Padar Island, Pink Beach Komodo, seeing the famous Komodo dragons, and swimming at Kelor Island.

It also includes hassle-free pick-up and drop-off from your hotel in Labuan Bajo, return boat transfers, and an English-speaking guide.

I personally booked my tour with Travass Life which offers amazing tours to Komodo Island, and I can’t recommend them enough!

Their most popular 3-day tour includes visits to Komodo Island Indonesia, Kelor Island, Rinca Island, Kalong Island, Padar Island, Indonesia Pink Beach, Taka Makassar, Manta Point, Sebayur Island, Kanawa Island, and Labuan Bajo.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT?

The best time to visit Komodo Island Pink Beach is between April and June when the wet season has just finished, and the peak of summer has not yet begun.

If you want to fully experience everything that Komodo has to offer, you should aim to visit during this time.

Although Komodo National Park is open 365 days a year, as a consequence of the heavy rain which can fall, especially in January and February, tours may be canceled.

To avoid it, do not book your Komodo trip for those months.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT PINK BEACH KOMODO

One of the first things to learn about Komodo Islands Pink Beach is, why is it pink.

There are microscopic organisms in the sand that make the sand pink. When the Foraminifera organisms break down, they mix with the sand and create a pink hue.

The color of the sand at Komodo Pink Beach is also created from red corals in the ocean which makes it appear pink in color.

This is also the case for just a few other pink beaches in Indonesia.
