Ghadira Bay Beach is located in the northwestern part of Malta, near the town of Mellieha.
It’s the largest sandy beach on the island, stretching along the Mellieha Bay area, boasting stunning views, and features all the amenities for the perfect day out.

HOW TO GET TO GHADIRA BAY BEACH MALTA?
To get to Ghadira Bay Malta, a few options are available, including by car, public bus, or by taxi.
RENTAL CAR:
Renting a car offers the most control over your travel schedule and route when visiting Ghadira Malta. For convenience, it’s best to rent a car at Malta Airport when you arrive in the country.
It’s a 45-minute drive from Valletta to Ghadira, and you have the opportunity to visit nearby attractions such as Coral Lagoon without being reliant on public transportation.
Follow the signs to Mellieha, then continue towards Mellieha Bay where the beach is located.
PUBLIC BUS:
Alternatively, you can take the public bus 32 or 35 from Valletta, stop at the University roundabout, and then take the bus X1 to Ghadira.
This journey takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes and costs only €2.
TAXI:
Taxis are also readily available from anywhere in Malta to reach the beach. From Valletta to Ghadira, expect to pay around €40 – €50 for a one-way trip.
Unlike other destinations in Malta like Gozo and Comino, there are no guided tours that come here.

Yes, there’s a parking lot at this location. While there’s no shade, it’s free, there are plenty of spots, and it’s only a two-minute walk from the beach.
BEST TIME TO VISIT MALTA GHADIRA BAY
The best time to visit Ghadira Bay in Malta is early in the morning to catch the beautiful sunrise.
The early hours provide a nice atmosphere with fewer crowds, which is perfect for a peaceful beach outing.
It’s worth noting that, as the largest beach on the island, Ghadira Bay Beach Malta gets very crowded in the summertime, so the earlier you come the better.
However, visiting during midday is also fine as there are plenty of beach umbrellas along the beach to rent.
WHAT TO DO AT MALTA GHADIRA BAY?
You can enjoy a variety of activities at Ghadira Bay Malta. First of all, the shallow waters make it perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
If you want something more active, you can rent a jet ski or go paddle boating, which are popular options.
Needless to say, you can also sunbathe, with sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, for just €5 each.
OUR EXPERIENCE AT GHADIRA BAY MALTA
When we visited Malta, there were a few tourist spots high on our list, and Ghadira Bay was one of them.
Driving from Valletta, we arrived at around 10 am morning and the weather was absolutely perfect. We spent a couple of hours at the beach – the perfect way to start the day.
The beach was not too crowded, so there was plenty of space to relax and sunbathe and we also rented a sunbed and umbrella.
Before leaving, we stopped by Ventuno Restaurant, which is right by the beach, and had a delicious meal and a drink.
AMENITIES AT GHADIRA BAY BEACH
Ghadira Bay Beach offers a range of amenities to ensure a comfortable visit. As mentioned, there are sunbeds and umbrellas available for rent, ideal for relaxing by the sea.
Portable toilets are provided, costing €1 per use, and there are also showers for rinsing off after a swim.
After enjoying some time in the ocean, there are a few cafes and restaurants for a bite to eat, either for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Apart from that, you can rent jet skis and paddle boats directly on the beach.
